چکیده
S t u d y s e l e c t i o n English-language randomized controlled trials were selected if they compared the effectiveness of antihypertensive regimens containing ACE inhibitors (enalapril, captopril, benazepril, cilazapril, and ramipril) with that of antihypertensive regimens not containing ACE inhibitors (control group) in patients with nondiabetic renal disease and if they had ≥ 1 year of follow-up.

New modalities for treatment of diabetic nephropathy: a mini review
Background and aims: Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is the most common cause of end-stage renal failure which could increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and morbidity and mortality in patients. The aim of this study was to investigate new modalities for treatment of diabetic nephropathy. Methods:This study was a mini-review research to investigate drugs that are used for DN treatment. Resul...

Uncritical Acceptance of Combination Treatment of Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker and Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitor in Nondiabetic Renal Disease Trial Results To the Editor: We have just read the published editorial in the present issue of Hypertension by Kaplan1 with great interest. We very much agree with his comments and, in particular, share his concerns with respect to an uncriti...
متن کاملCost-effectiveness of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors in nondiabetic advanced renal disease.
BACKGROUND National and international clinical guidelines do not consistently recommend treating nondiabetic proteinuric patients with advanced renal disease with an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. OBJECTIVE To determine the cost-effectiveness of ACE inhibitor therapy in nondiabetic proteinuric patients with advanced renal disease in Germany. METHODS Two strategies were compa...
متن کاملEfficacy of pentoxifylline for reduction of proteinuria in type II diabetic patients
Background: Diabetic nephropathy is considered to be the most common cause of end stage renal disease (ESRD). Proteinuria is declared as the most marked risk factor in progression towards ESRD. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of pentoxifylline for reduction of proteinuria in type II diabetic patients. Methods: From May 2007 to June 2008, this randomized clinical trial study w...
متن کاملEffects of ramipril and valsartan on proteinuria and renal function in patients with nondiabetic proteinuria.
The renin-angiotensin system is involved in the progression of chronic renal disease of both diabetic and nondiabetic origin. The angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and angiotensin II receptor blockers have been demonstrated to reduce urinary protein excretion and attenuate the development of renal injury. This prospective, randomized, 12-month study assessed the effects of ramipril (N = ...
